So what bargain Gravel bikes have you picked up lately?

Was umming and ahing about buying a Planet X Tempest and couldn't decide between, GRX, Force or Rival (did start a post about that but seem to cant find it)

Whilst umming and Ahing i did a search on ebay and a Boardman ADV 9.0 (Sram Rival groupset) came up just around the corner from me

Has had a few upgrades from the std spec and i got it for £800 (RRP is £1650)

Upgrades are

Hope 20five wheels (Hope RS4 hubs)
Brooks C15 saddle
Schwalbe G-One Allround tyres
Panaracer Gravel King tyres
King Cage Iris Stainless Steel Bottle Cages
Shimano M540 Pedals
Topeak Micro Rocket Pump

Very happy with what i got it for, has had minimal use, mainly on road

Have added a Marzocchi Transfer dropper (exactly the same as a Fox Transfer dropper) i had laying around

So what bargain Gravel bikes have you bought lately?

Crikey, well done. I have a Brooks C15 on my Diverge. Lovely saddle.

That looks like a great bargain, although I’d have to ditch the tan wall tyres.

Like that you’ve added a dropper - I’d do the same if I had a gravel bike and had any intentions of using it on a sneaky bit of easy off road stuff.

Noice.

I don't usually agree with tanwalls, but they do suit gravel bikes IMO - possibly because they are basically early MTBs with drop bars?

Mines a CAAD-X (Rival 22s, hydraulic), got it off the classifieds here for £400, still had the original front tyre! Even got a brand new full carbon fork out of the Cannondale recall!

Spent about £200 on building some Stans/novatec wheels, added some decent tyres and fresh bar tape* and it's a flying machine, and unexpectedly comfortable over rough stuff, put that down to the Stans rims being much lower profile than is fashionable meaning they probably deflect vertically a lot more. Future upgrades I'm planning carbon bars and seatpost but TBH the OEMs are shaped quite nicely and it's already comfy enough so probably not worth the outlay, maybe a chinese carbon seatpost and a more bling alloy bar.

*regularly, I seem to have sandpaper for hands

If CX counts as well as gravel, then I think I have a contender, but maybe with all those upgrades you've got me beaten!

This was an eBay purchase less than 10 min walk from my house about 3 weeks ago.

I paid £470. (RRP was £1,800 when new I think).

Cube Cross Race SLT
Full hydro Force one groupset and spanking condition other than the front wheel bearings, which I've now replaced.

I do like the colour of that Cube. Spotted it on another thread and thought it looked good.

Think you win, if RRP was £1800 new and you paid £470 that's a £1330 saving!!!!

No bargains for me. Had a pre-covid plan of waiting for planet x to sell off the space chicken frames dirt cheap, but now the price has gone UP as everyone is after a bike. Dammmit.

Everyone seems to have gone a bit gravel bike mad. Mine's on its last legs and I was keen to replace but looks like all the good deals are now gone.

The £1,800 RRP would have been when it was new in 2017 - it's a 3 yr old bike, but still a good deal I think.

A couple of bargains there! I'm so tempted by the new Calibre Lost Lad. £420 may not be super cheap given it's got Claris, but I think it looks great

Given that the Specialized Diverge with Claris is £900, that's a bargain right there!

It looks more expensive than a £420 bike. I quite like it.

Given that it’s got Claris it likely works better than anything sporting SRAM too

Nothin, nada, zip, ziltch. A Di2 GRX front mech for £90 doesn't really compare.

waiting for planet x to sell off the space chicken frames dirt cheap

PX trimmed them down to £500 early April before whacking them up to £799, you can actually import a Freeranger frame from China (Carbonda CFR696) for about £450, but I decided to get the Space Chicken at £500.

I think I got a bargain, bought my On One Free Ranger from Planet X on Easter Monday, £1499 but there was 10 % off on Easter weekend so £1350, got it two weeks later, not they are up to £1699 and you can’t get them until the end of June

Cleared out all the old bikes and picking up a Revolt 0 tomorrow, not that big of a bargain and currently trying to remember why I wrote off the Digger on the other thread. About to pull the trigger on an Arkose too, debating if an extra £45 for an R2 105 vs the D2 Tiagra is worth it if it means new tyres possible new wheels.

As for bargains just ordered a 650b wheelset (Fulcrum), cheap tyres, tubes and rotors for under £120 in the PX discount sale.
