Hi, just hoping for some advice about the Aberfeldy to Grandtully path. I'm planning to head upriver from Grandtully but would then like to leave the path at about Grandtully Castle and go up towards Loch Kennard past St. Mary's Church. Is this possible? TIA!

Strava heatmap suggests it is, cutting up past a farm on a wee gravel track. Only shows faintly on cycling mode but more strongly on walking mode (screenshot below).

Never ridden it myself but remember trying to plan something similar.

I've done it, but 18 years ago! Memory back then was it is all farm track and biggest issue is Eradynate Estate a and Murthly estates were awkward about access for us and DofE groups. I would suggest one person passing through with a smile and a grasp of responsible access would be fine.

I think geograph shows some images.

As soon as you near the woods I recall a short section not on track, but there was path / quad access to end of forest tracks.

Thanks for the input @13thfloormonk and @matt_outandabout. I'll give the heatmap route a go, I like to stay of the tarmac but it's not the end of the world if I have to do a couple of miles on it.
BTW Matt, I think those 18 years may have taken a toll on your memory. Edradynate is in the North bank of the river and Murthly estate is downstream of Dunkeld! My route finding is poor but I think I won't be riding over their land! 😀 😉

Dammit....

Edit: hang on, I'm not that mad. There's a Mains of Murthly on that south bank.

Edit Edit: I've just texted old colleague - and he and I think Edradynate rented shooting licences over a few areas of the valley... So I may still be right it's them we ran into issues with. Glad they were not too serious as the ex-gamekeeper has recently been convicted of murder...

One of my big objectives this year is a Source to Sea ride from Loch Lyon to Dundee, following the River Lyon until it meets the Tay and then the Tay until, well, Dundee!

200km, loads of fiddly riverbank singletrack, all downhill for the last 150km 😂

Applicants welcome 😎

It's my limit for a single day, family life means I need to squeeze every kilometre out of my days out 😂
