We have a cop looking for a device which he can put in or on a bike as a trap so he can catch folk who steal it. Does anyone know of a suitable product that I could obtain for him?

Technically entrapment?

Technically entrapment?

Presumably if they use the tracked bike to identify the thief and follow him to a stash of other nicked bikes then they can do him for nicking those instead thus avoiding the hurdle of entrapment?

That would work ๐Ÿ™‚

As far as I know Garmin do a little USB key sized jobby now with a 3G chip in it, works pretty well.

It's only entrapment if the Police ask you to go and break the law? Setting up a trap is different?

This is a (long) story involving various GPS trackers on bikes:

The Garmin one is the GTU10: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=387&pID=67686
