Results wise though (for the laps I finished) I was a lot further down the field than the last one I did last year - more so than could be explained by having a bad day
Is the spring series more competitive than winter one? Or should I just give up!!?
In general yes, the Spring Series races have stronger fields than the non-series Autumn races.
How did you compare against people who did both races? That's probably a better benchmark than finishing position.
I thought I was going quite well for the first lap and a half of SuperVets, but then realised that the people coming past weren't the leading Sport riders but were actually in my category. Blew up quite badly on lap 4, legs completely empty!

Other than me, blokes who were 8th, 23rd, 24th and 27th on Sunday were 1st, 6th, 12th and 30 th in the last one I did
