Looking at buying a paclite shell for the occasional downpour. is there any difference between the 2? thinking berghaus specificallly..
IIRC The Extreme version is the same inner/membrane mated to a lighter outer fabric. I much prefer the Goretex Active Shell these days. It's lighter, more breathable and is nicer against the skin. Unless it's a very, very good deal of course.....
I got a berghaus paclite 2 shell for walking in at nomad in manchester for £45 down from over £200 was very happy when I saw that
Can't speak for the extreme but I've got a TNF Goretex paclite from a few years back & can't really reccomend it. Its thin n lightweight & looks great BUT its a proper sweatbox.
Anything remotely physical results in more water/sweat/condensation/due on the inside of this jacket than any other jacket I've worn. It just doesn't breathe in the slightest.
Heard very good things about eVent so I'll probaby be looking there for my next jacket material...
Iv got event walking boots and there really good. Karrimoor have got a really nice jacket out at the moment with event and I think it's around £90 which is good. Not noticed that much of a buildup of condensation with my paclite, but I only use it as a shell to walk in I spend more time in my shoftshell and use an old plain gortex berghaus to ride in
hey matt any links to bargain jacket?
Not sure what you mean by goretex extreme, such a fabric doesn't exist.
For use whilst riding you really, really need Goretex Active Shell fabric. I often ride in mine even when it's not raining, it really is that breathable. Don't buy paclite, extreme or otherwise!
Event is good, but Active shell is better, and is available in lighter jackets.
Haglofs Endo is good, or Gorebike do some more bike specific ones.
Thanks for reply's. Ive got an altura extreme x which is event and find it great, but i usually just ride with a base and a softshell. The paclite was to carry incase of any unexpected rain. @tlr, berghaus do/did a paclite shell and a paclite extreme, i wasnt sure wheather there was a difference..
