As far as I can see, you have to buy one of the 'edition' Gopro HD2 kits, as in, Motorsports, Outdoor or Surf edition.
The only actual headcam mount I'm interested in is a side-mount, not the top mount which as far as I can make out you have two ways of doing, a top mount with the 'Outdoor' edition, vented strap and headstrap.
Basically, I want to be able to do a sidemount, a chestcam and then come up with my own angles elsewhere.

So what is the cheapest way of getting a Hero HD2 and being able to set up a side-head-mount and a chestcam?
What model and accessories would fit the bill?
Thankyou kindly.
Outdoor edition + chest mount?
Can you side-mount the camera on your helmet with the standard Outdoor edition?
It looks like you can only top-mount the camera to me...
The standard mount kit includes sticky mounts and sufficient components to form a 90 degree "bend".
Buy yourself a " grab bag of mounts" from go pro, the outdoor edition of the hero 2 I've just got only came with "in line" mounts and none that turned the arm by 90degrees if that makes any sense ?
I got one in the bar mount kit I think (good for doubling as a tripod) but the grab bag of mounts is worth getting.

Yes, I thought it looked like that from what I could make out from the pictures.
It's a shame they don't do the camera on its own with a pick and mix of mounts as I'm not really interested in the coal-miner type mount.
Cheers.

Tis annoying, especially as they do the older model as camera only.
😀I'm not really interested in the coal-miner type mount.
So I took the plunge and hit 'Buy' on the Gopro.
In the end I bought it from 'Digigood' off ebay, a grey import I believe. Anyway, paid about £190 all in for the HD Hero2 Motorsports edition.
I went for the motorsports edition as I didn't really think I'd use the coal-miner head strap, and the helmet I'd mostly mount to was a full-face so wouldn't use the vented helmet strap either.
Thought I could have some fun with the sucky cup, plus of course, it was coming out cheaper and I'd buy a chest-strap too.
I mounted it to the side of my helmet. Wasn't easy. I have a 'THE One' helmet and it is riddled with concave and convex faces, plus the one place it would go would mean covering up the saucy Las Vegas lady painted on the side. I mounted it low down near the chin guard, and hopefully it has enough contact.
Initial walk round the house test shows that its blummin heavy actually. You can really notice it. Maybe I should tape a beer can to the other side or something to counterbalance it.... 😀
Has anyone any tips on lining up the view right if you don't have the LCD Bacpac? I may get the Bacpac at some point but can't afford right now.
