Just contemplating a 29er hard tail and originally thought that it had to be a carbon or titanium frame, but given all of my mountain bikes to date have been aluminium I thought why bother spending all of the extra cash, and am now looking at aluminium framed options.
From a good deal perspective the Canyons look like a good spec bike for the money

but I wanted to post to see what other options are out there?
If budget is tight, can't go too far wrong with an On One Scandal. Or maybe take advantage of the carbon Lurcher if still on sale..
I'm staring hungrily at lurcher frames right now, as I too fancy building a lightweight 29er as a mile munching alternative to my meta AM.
