Quite fancy doing the Rangers Path off Snowdon later in the year once the ban's lifted.

Any other less obvious routes in England or Wales that are more suited to bigger bikes but still require you to pedal yourself to the top?

Carying is allowed, my favourite track ever was 'Flowtastic' with Switchbacks in Spain, basicly it's an hour of carying the bikes up from the road, up a cliff to the top of the hill!

Also did a good ride once way way back that went over Foel Fras and down Drum in North Wales, but that was on fully rigid bikes with V brakes. No idea if it'd be any good nowadays or not. Could either be dull or a blast ๐Ÿ™‚ Carrying was involved tho.

Oh and there's more than one route off Snowdon btw.

EDIT: try some Lakes passes too. Big climbs up, some techie footpath bits down but they are of the slow difficult variety ime (which isn't very broad).

Don't wait to do Snowdon, just set off pushing before 5pm. It's v steep from start anyway so a blessing in disguise.

Easily do-able before it gets dark.

Plus The Highlands look like a world of opportunity for push up/ride back down stuff

Which is the best route down Cadair? Should be easy to fit that into your average mid-Wales weekend

So there is. Thought there were more for some reason.
Looks fun though - I also am partial to a striaght up, straight down kind of ride.

Dollywagon/Grisedale off Hellvellyn is pretty suited to bigger bikes - if you are very fit you could probably pedal most of the way up the Glenridding/Kepple Cove path.

Ben Lomond is also very good.

Great pics btw DavidM
