Thinking of going to 11 speed. Just wondering what set up to go for. Any thoughts?
I have Sram X1 with 32T up front. Love it! Very quiet and huge range
Sram all the range
Shimano same range as 10sp with an expander cog for a lot of money
Its all about the chain ring (and related to wheel size), do you find you use the granny gear a lot, then you may need to consider a 28t or 30t chain ring to start?
SRAM XX1 with XTR mech and shifter here, love it, and prefer to the full XX1 set up I had before.
Was thinking xx1 but it's not cheap for rear mech, cassette and shifter. I have a holtzfeller 38t already installed. So its what works best with that really.
The obession with range makes no sense. If you ride in east anglia like me a 42T rear cog will be completley useless. Shimano's offering is more useful too me with a 38T chainring. Then again i could save alot of money and just 1x10.
Range is obession and one i dont like. It does not suit everyone consoder that before you splash ouT it alot of money.
I would try 1x10 first it will cost you less just a bit of time and a narrow wide ring. If you like it you will make a more informed decision.
Just fitted xx1 grip shift and mech with xtr cassette as saved from changing hub body and taking a punt that by the time I need another cassette there will be an xt one at sensible price.
Buggered thumb means the grip shift is a must and it was either that or xtr di2
My point on range was that shimano offers you 11-40 which you can get with any price 10sp setup, sram offers a much bigger range in 11sp. Hence if 11-40 is enough for you then stick with 10sp.
Running x1 cassette with xx1 shifter (more postive shift compared to x01) with hope cranks and direct 30t ring and kmc chain super quiet and excellent smooth gear changes love it
My old worn out set upi was 10 speed with a hope trex but did not like the big step left by removing one of the smaller cogs.
Can't see the xx1 casstette is worth the extra for me
Had it for a 8-9mmonths now. Love it. It's quiet, works superbly, brilliantly designed and bloody expensive. But hey ho, I'm looking after it all as best I can. Run a 30T on the front, works a treat.

XTR mech and shifter are cheaper, and lighter!
