They probably stole it.
Shifters are Shimano R505 non series hydraulic mechanical shifters
Is that a misprint or are shimano making a more budget R685?

R505 was a mechanical disc caliper a couple of years ago, id assume it was a misprint.
Looks like they are:

looks like a great commuter bike.

42mm tyres too.
I blame disk brakes, until that point CX bikes were crap at everything, that was their appeal! They were rubbish on tarmac, they had comically low amounts of grip off road, the brakes didn't work in the mud and they were uncomfortable.
Now unless it's got disk brakes, suspension, big tyres and a snazzy name it's nothing!
[rant]Can we just be clear that a CX bike is not a commuter bike with rack mounts and slick tyres, it is a road bike for off road use, it will have lower gearing and it will not have any mounts on it, it is used either for racing or riding terrain similar to that found in a race. A tourer is a relaxed angled road bike that will have rack and guard mounts and will be lovely for that ride in to work, it will also deal with a few gravel roads and a towpath or 2, this is also known as gnarmac, all road and gravel. Thank you[/rant]
Nah, you've lost that one a while back, lunge. CX bikes are bikes that look broadly like road bikes but can be ridden off road on just about anything up to Gnar factor 4.3. Bottle cages and mounts are perfectly valid. Stick on road tyres and it'll work perfectly well on road too despite the wails from CX racer purists ๐
I'm very disappointed by this 'dale though - a headshok would have been much better IMO as per their previous front sus CX bike.
That is truly hideous. And I know hideous, I only have to look in my shed to see the evidence.
