suggestions welcome,
I am after something light, long fingered and that doesn't bunch up in the palm. just for clarity no armour, minimal padding but maximum breathability.
current best fit is the Assos trail glove but for £55 i should hope so.
Best gloves I've ever had (and that's a lot!) for not bunching are the ION Gat. Something to do with the stripy palm cover instead of the usual fake-leather

The Scott gloves I bought on there a few years ago are still going strong for commuting. £5/£6. No-one ever believes they're any good cos they're so cheap, but... well ya knaa.
Ive got some Fox Digits (from 2015-ish) that are super comfy and grippy. They are not too hot in summer, yet strangely they are also warm in winter. Clever people those foxes..
Liking the Fox Sidewinder's I picked up at the end of last year. Good fit, though i've not had the chance to wear them on any hot days yet. Seem to be lots around discounted to about £15 in 'old' colours

Last gloves I bought were some checkered cheapies from those Prendas Ciclismo people. Dunno if they'd fit your requirements but they're good quality and value. Their site's usually worth a browse for clothing, if you're not too worried about retro roadie styles

Sidewinders are sort of the opposite of what the op wants.
The TLD xc gloves on Merlin for 13.50 are a different design. Not as tough as older ones, ive just had a set replaced through warranty after 2 weeks as they were already falling apart.

and they also offer no protection from nettles and brambles. I could do with a little less of the gentle tingle of nettle rash.

No, not until the undergrowth dies back in the autumn, just the nature of where I ride.

All palm materal bunches when folded in on itself in a gripping position. it aint really all that difficult a concept to get your head round Deborah.
Local riding is just like that round here too mrmo. I tend to have different routes/detours depending on the season. all the nettliest/thorniest trails have to wait til late autumn/winter early spring.
I never wear long sleeves either.

I don't see why it has to be the case, pre-curve the palms, use stretch material. There are ways to minimise the problem. But most gloves are crap when it comes to the details.
minimise yes. but you'll never eradicate it.
Stretch material pulls away from your palm (where youre calluses are if you ride a lot) when your hand is in a gripping position. the palm becomes concave too so the material has no option but to bunch.
All gloves also get worse in these respects with age.

I personally don't like riding in gloves, I find them horrible.
To answer the OP - I am finding the Polaris gloves good, nice thin unpadded palm and I have either softshell for cold or mesh version for summer. Last well and £5-10 on the sales.

Endura MT500 ones are nice.
Good fit, light, a tiny bit of armour, dry out very quickly when they get wet.
I just got some about £14 DHB ones which do what is asked.
