Was interesting...

as previously reported by residents of the borders the snow is exceptionally plentiful.

We took about an hour to get to buzzards car park up the trail... snow was knee deep in places and the car park itself was uniformly knee deep.

Trail down again (blue) was quite good fun. There were a couple of tracks to ride in but it was generally ankle deep and very slow going.

Advice would be: unless we magically lose all the snow in a week it is advisable to avoid. Certainly don't come from any distance to visit, you will be disappointed. The cafe is shut too with frozen pipes so no toasties either!

Pics later!

Pity you gave up on the sledging idea then......

At least temperatures were 'up', lost a number of fittings there last winter due to brittle plastics... Face-planting in the snow's good fun though!

Pretty much the same conditions we met on the 27th. Atleast the snow's dry and soft for landings.

Mental note: take sledges next time. There looked like there was tons of fun to be had with them.

Sounds like a snowboard would have been more fun ๐Ÿ™‚

me and ma mate ventured down there today. we stuck to the plowed fire roads though, didnt fancy walkin to the top.

and we did notice the lonely set of tracks across the buzzards to the blue trail, presume that was you Bikechain....? we stuck to the road and had a fast, slippy run back to the car park.

just glad to get out on the bike, and nice to know we weren't the only nutters that bothered.....

That was us! it was a shame to have to make all that nice snow messy as it looked amazing.

There will be a pic of me trying to swim in it later hopefully.

It was 50% rideable on the way up on the trail. We were adamant not to use the road - used it at the end of the blue trail for the last few hundred metres - was quit fast and fun. Our pet aussie was enjoying the novelty of pulling skids on it.

we struggled enough with the snow on the road! the trails looked knee deep in places.. its def goin to need a big thaw to clear them.

seen more walkers than bikers though. maybe they are the sensible ones ๐Ÿ˜†

OTOH, the Pentlands were ace today ๐Ÿ˜‰ Though we saw some skiiers, they at least had the good grace to look a bit embarassed as pensioners waved as they passed.
