Was campervanning couple of weekends ago and jealously watched in the pitch black from Buzzards Nest car park as some lads did the Spooky Woods descent with lights that from where I sat, looked like main beam car headlights! 😯

Wonder what sort of outlay and type of lights I'd realistically need to look at with a view to same ? I know there's mad money to be spent on lights, but I can't justify a fortune...

Anybody there/got any recommendations??

Deal extreme will have you sorted for under 70 quid, downside is it comes from Hong Kong, but that itself has changed as they have opened a uk warehouse.

Not as bling or fancy as big name lights but they do a very good job for very little cash.

There are loads of different lights out there, for £100 you could happily get a decent handlebar mounted light and a head torch, you could also spend anything upto £500 on lights if you are that way inclined.

Deal extream (DX) will sort you out with what you need if you are just getting into night riding, they provide decent lights at bargin basement prices direct from hongkong.

Smudge from this forum has www.mtbbatteries.co.uk and sells a slightly more refined version of the DX light for £67

Something like that combined with a feix torch for your helmet and you will be all good.

I;ve got one of SpokeShirts lights which I think is similar to Smudge's light. Excellent for the price and has survived some riding in pretty sh*tty conditions.

Seriously though, i got some magicshine lights on saturday. I bought the 1600 lumen enduro pack , however think you can get cheaper if you search around and on ebay for example.(Which i should have done , bah )
Not been out yet with it, but its very bright, since i bought it have seen they are highly rated in one of the mountain bike magazines this month.(if that means anything to you)
