Looking for a two day route in the above area.
Have seen routes describing Etive/Kinglass and Kinglass/Orchy
Any suggestions on the best combination or alternatives in the area?
Did Glencoe/Etive/Kinglass/Orchy/Glencoe in a day some years ago. I guess you could do a similar ride over 2 days but mebbe go down the West side of Loch Etive, as long as you can cadge a lift over the loch at Bonawe.
Quite fancy that myself.
What direction did you go round that then?
Went down the East side of Loch Etive, pushy lots of the way over rocky stream beds. Glen Kinglass was really good but I think it's been sanitised since then.
Was a 'good day out' but not an overnighter. 40 odd miles but the 1st bit is on road & mainly downhill!
What bearings for...?
I did it anticlockwise over a great summer's day last August. It was a decent length route starting from Kingshouse, which meant finishing with that great descent on the WHW to the ski centre.
As for a two dayer, Househusband did one as described above so drop him a message.
I did Tyndrum > B of O > Glen Kinglass > Loch Etive > Taynuilt earlier this year. It's about 40 miles point to point. Very scenic and some great quality riding in Glen Kinglass but overall a lot of landrover track. That would be a good day of your two day ride. My dad who spends a lot of time sea kayaking says he has seen quite a few bikers coming down the side of Loch Etive (carrying in places!) so there must be a route from Glencoe but haven't done it.
My experience of going along Loch Etive was one of a lot of walking on sand and cobbles. There is a walking track on the map on the east side of L Etive, but on the ground, it was unridable where we were. Ended up reversing Glen Kinglass to B o O.
IIRC there was a number of a guy that would do a boat pick up from Ardmaddy, that may be a good option...
Try Donald Kennedy for a boat pickup.

We usually ride it clockwise from Victoria Bridge, Down Glen Kinglass, along the shore of Loch Etive, (pick your day and it is nearly all rideable bar the scree river crossings) up to the Kingshouse and back along the WHW. Its a good day ride.
We've also ridden out to Taynuilt crossed the bridge and camped overnight on the west shore of the loch. Its twenty odd years since I last did it, but I only remember a bit of pushing towards the head of the loch near the Etive slabs.
Both are great loops, but you need to pick your day. One easter after a huge snowmelt and continuous rain the path from Kinglass to the end of Loch Etive was like a 10k river crossing.
