The riding that is accessible within an hour from Glasgow wipes the floor with anything that is within an hour of Edinburgh.

Glasgow is a great place to live if you ride a mtb.

Any suggestions for close by riding or are most places suffering? Cheers

Zedsdead - the only things really rideable with any fun in the Mugdock area are the West Highland Way paths - Dumgoyne Loop is fine if you know where it is ? Up the Westie, over to the distillery, up onto the old water board road to Strathblane etc. There will likley be a GMBC local ride on Sunday morning - worth keeping an eye on the club website [url= http://www.gmbc.org.uk/ ]GMBC[/url]

Might be one or two GMBCers out on Sunday morning but probably a bit later - 10.30 ish. Dumgoyne Loop looks on the cards given the weather...

Did the Dumgoyne Loop last weekend, it was alright, though the surface on the westie before the pub is very soft and slows down some of the fun bits of trail.

The offroad return through Strathblane just across the main road was fine though other than some muddy bits once you hit Mugdock again, but it's rained a fair bit since then so the road home might be best.

dan - think I saw you on Sun morn as we came over Penguin bridge ?

Iain, is that the orange bridge before the fenced off castle?

Downshep - that's the one. We came over it from the kyber road and 2 guys at other side having a chat. Dan was one of them methinks 🙂

Hi Iain aye were you with Pete? I was out with the Glasgow meetup lot for a social wee pedal around, hope to see you lot soon if the weather improves and gives us all a chance of some enjoyable riding! I like the sound of some of the ideas on the club board thus far and hope to be able to hook up with some downhill-oriented folks through the spring/summer.

*Edit PS on second thoughts I'm thinking of 3 of the GMBC boys that passed at another spot entirely! I remember a few others though and I think I know where you were!

Hi Dan - we were out a good bit before meetup - saw them coming up from bombhole as we were coming back down Westie. I was out with just one other guy - thought I saw you plus another up at the Bridge ?

Pete did teh same route as us, but an hour or so later

Who knows, too many riders out and it all gets confusing! Pete and the two he was with passed us around the gate with the wee gap in the middle just before the road crossing to the big boulders on the path, but I had the big tyres with 22psi in them and couldn't up the pace very much for a chat!

My knowledge of what things in the park are called is still pretty crap despite riding it all for years. I don't image I'll be up again for a while now after this deluge. Got some days out planned for further afield, uplifts at Inners and some munro rides. Big plans and hopes for 2013!

Anyone up for a nightride on the 27th or 28th? I'm thinking Cathkin? I finish work at 3 both days, any time after that, takes me 30 mins from prestwick. I'm keen to get a look at the new trails.
