And the number of responses about lighter alu rims - what aluminium rim will give the weight savings of a carbon one and only has to support a 2.5 tyre?

I get that for bigger tyres you need bigger rims and that carbon was the best choice here - but for standard sized tyres, what is a good replacement for a flow ex rim (from a weight and strength perspective)

You are not going to find an aluminium rim that gives you the same weight savings as a (much more expensive) carbon one whilst being of similar strength.

I think a key consideration is what width rim is best there was a recent discussion about rim width

I'd suggest at least 25mm internal width for a 2.5" tyre.
So a Stan's Arch mk3 maybe.
