Was thinking of taking the good lady to ride her new bike on the blue grade stuff at Gisburn, while I look after the kids on their bikes, question is, is there plenty of easy stuff for them to pootle around on?

They are quite adventurous and will give stuff a go, but are only 3 and 7.

I'm assuming you're tagging your 3 yr old? The blue is great for kids but there are hills and dipping off the fire road onto singletrack may be tricky with tagalong. My kids love it and my 8yr old managed well with lots of pitstops. The blue is loads shorter than the red but once you start you're committed!

3 yr old is riding independently, so won't be taking the tag along.

Gisburn has always been a popular place to take kids - new stuff just makes it better, just be aware you won't find toilets and visitor centre etc (which is actually a good thing in my view).

The main bike car park (Cocklet Hill) has a great tea van but is always very busy and kids seem to end up playing in mud bogs trying to avoid constant stream of circulating cars.

Drive a mile further down the road and you will find a big second car park right by Stocks Reservoir - this is a much nicer place for kids to play if killing time whilst dad does a lap later on. There is a nice flat bit of wide singletrack footpath running back parallel to the road that you can cheekily ride to join the red / blue after it has crossed the dam (nobody has ever complained at us riding down it sensibly with young kids). There is some bumpy fire road early on which small wheeled rider may complain about. If you can make it to the first proper bit of blue route then riverside / concrete bridge is a favourite kid playstop.

My eldest (8) and his 6 yr old friend can tackle most of the early red stuff apart from the rock staircase but not taken them right up onto Whelpstone Crag yet. Your 7 year old should be able to do the full lap of blue plus a bit of red if adventurous but little one might struggle to get right round.
