Has anyone been to Girona Spain for cycling either road or MTB?
We are looking at a month there later this year and wondered if anyone had any feedback on places to stay, cycle routes etc we are taking both MTB and road bikes.
Thanks

I know a few road pro riders who train there and a couple who have bought flats. They love it!

Did you stay in Pals both times?
We have seen a cheapish room to rent on air b&b (£470 for 31 days) but its right in the center of the old town and not sure if it would be better to stay somewhere outside of the town. We will be driving there so its not a problem to drive into town or to the start of trails etc
What was the weather like when you went & what time of year?
Are there any routes to avoid in wet weather?
Any advice would be great thanks

Just spent 10 days on the coast near Begur with the family and did two days mountain biking with a guiding company pureriding.eu

It was very, very good. Technical but flowy trails and some uplift too. Rode at Santa Coloma de Farners the first day and from Osor the second.

There's some pics and vids here if you want a look:

We went to camping LA siesta in palafrugell to the east of Gerona for a summer holiday 2 years ago. The campsite is run by a guy who loves his cycling so they do a guided mtb ride every other evening. Best thing is they have kids clubs at the same time so you can spend all day with the family, then in the evening send the kids to do whatever, wife can relax, and you get a decent 3hr ride in before coming back for a BBQ. We are going back this year

We went roadieing to Girona a couple of weeks ago and stayed in the old town. Bikes and accommodation were organised by an outfit called, I think, Girona Cycling who were very good . The routes were excellent and the old town was lovely, loads of great places to eat . However , getting out of town to interesting stuff seemed to take at least 20-30 mins of busy road depending on direction. We enjoyed it but won't go back .
