Only just got back, missed it all live but read the results, and just watched the highlights now. Obvious blocking from AP. Italian race, Italian officials, Italian rider. Cav was right to be angry, I'm surprised he didn't hit him.
Yeah, because Cav never indulges in behaviour like that at all or has a leadout man who headbuts people.
Cav should just grow a pair and man up, nobody likes a whiny looser. It's not like he hasn't done similar in the past.
It's not like he hasn't done similar in the past.
When?
So two wrongs do make a right then...?
or has a leadout man who headbuts people.
Ah, the old guilt by association. So he loses all rights to a fair race because someone on his team once retaliated to someone blocking them.
Did either of you actually watch the footage?
In my eyes it was a far sprint.
So Petacchi comes across and gives Cav a tow and Cav complains!
Didn't look that bad to me TBH
Yes, and sure, its not exactly perfect manners but Cav can't complain when he's a happy beneficiary of similar behaviour on his behalf. Renshaw doing stuff to get Cav into a position to win a sprint is not guilt by association. If Cav wasn't being escorted to the right place for the sprint, Renshaw wouldn't be doing what he's done.
Top quality trollage Realman.
AP starts on the far right side of the road, Cav on the left. AP starts sprinting, then as Cav starts, AP moves right over across the entire width of the road in front of Cav, who then tries to go round him, and AP moves again, in front of him.
I don't get how that is fair.
Funnily enough, Cav isn't bothered now:
On his Twitter page after the race Cavendish retracted his criticism of Petacci and said: "I'm sorry for taking my frustration out on him. What happened today was sprinting and that's why I love it.
"It's about tactics as well as power. Let's bring back old school sprinting! Congrats to a great champion today."
Seems fair enough, and if he isn't bothered maybe we shouldn't be...
I don't get how that is fair
It's not chess or the playground
From eurosport
Except that he was entirely justified this time. Petacchi clearly veered into Cavendish's path on two occasions in the Parma finale, making a ham-fisted attempt at fair sprinting.
Funnily enough, Cav isn't bothered now:
Like Shleck wasn't bothered when Contador attacked when he had a mechanical.
Also, you cut a big chunk off Cavs tweet..
Phew, calmed down now. I'm always disqualified for every little move, but this is not Petacchi's fault. It's the fault of the jury or teams who have a prejudice against me.So I'm sorry to Petacchi for taking my frustration out on him..
@jensvoightsarmy put it well:
Petacchi's sprint: Brought to you by Spirograph.
if he isn't bothered maybe we shouldn't be...
SCANDALOUS! HOW VERY DARE YOU! lol, i thought it seemed fine to me, and pretty exciting! 🙂

Very good. For those of a certain age 🙂
Actually I didn't cut it off his tweet, the BBC did.
Doesn't really change his view though does it?
I thought it wasn't a fair sprint and the rules say it should be. Cav's entire tweet as posted by Realman is how I feel about it.
Doesn't really change his view though does it?
Yes, he believes he was cheated out of the win.
