Didn't want to kill himself on the Zoncolan.

Braderleee Weeeegins if you're following the Giro on Gazzetta.it

Don't know what his up to, I suppose the Tour is more important and things went a bit Pete Tong after the crash.

well he'd beter do something interesting - I imagine his sponsor (philanthropist that he is) might be getting a bit tired of mid-pack bollox by now

He's always said his emphasis this year is the tour. He is, I think being careful not to put too much effort in.

Basso was superb on the Zoncolan . Why is it such a great TV sport - watching people fight their way up these huge road climbs ? The coverage of the GT's just gets better

Aye Wiggins isn't trying to win the Giro, he's using it for conditioning for the TdF. If there's a really tough stage he won't kill himself as it will bring him into top form too early. That said I can't see him placing top 3 in the TdF anyway so maybe he should have targeted the Giro this year (although Evans has thought the same hence it looks like his big goal for the year rather than his usual of trying for the TdF win and failing).

I think the crash which lost Wiggo about 4 minutes on the second or third stage put paid to him giving it a good go. He won the prologue time trial.
Chapeau to Evans on Sunday up the Zoncolan, he was really trying! Up till then I was at best indifferent towards him, now I think he's alright.

I'm warming to him. TBH I don't really know what my problem is with the guy? Certainly seen some plucky riding from him.

He's also missing the Tour of Britain to ride in the Vuelta.

Maybe he'll target that if the TdF starts to go tits up?
