I could do with a new gilet for riding and maybe running. I have a planet X 365 one, stretchy material, keeps the wind off. Light and packable ish. Cheap about £20 iirc. Don't seem to be available any more though.
I want something similar, but everywhere I look they're either silly money or dubious quality.

Any ideas?

Closest I think I've come so far is alpkit arro

Galibier might be worth a look. I have their insulated gilet and am pleased with it fit casual use as well as riding.

Indeed, that reversible Galibier item looks ideal. Orange side out for gloomy days on the road, may make you a bit more conspicuous.

And it's insulated, must resist another gilet.

Bought a crivit gilet from Aldi about 5 years ago for £15, can’t fault it.

Not sure if you can buy direct from crivit.

Good fit for gents of a certain age who may sport a ‘bay window’ type physic.

Just ordered an Aussie Grit Light Gilet too, looks like exactly what I need.
I was temped by their Baggy bibs too but even with the save50 code it felt like I'd be splurging a bit too much. but they look good.

I got the Galibier one, but haven't used it in anger yet due to injury induced weight gain

I do like their kit though. Nicely designed and good value

I'm looking for a new gilet to replace an ageing Gore one with dodgy zips.

Needs to have a windproof front, mesh rear, zipped chest pocket and a couple of rear pockets.

What do you lot recommend?

I picked up a Morvelo camo one in their sale, down from £80 to £20.

what does 'if you get the right size' mean? Is their sizing not accurate?

What's the fit like? I could use a new Gilet for mtb but don't want it super fitted.

They are quite slim if you dont want them fitted size up. They seem really really good quality though.

My size L Aussie Grit Gilet just arrived, I'm really pleased with it.
Good fit/sizing, pockets are a useful size and shape, materials and finish feels nice. I can see me using this thing for Spring, Autumn and even the odd milder winters day...

as a comparison I wasted a wiggle voucher on a Castelli Squadra ~six months ago which, for almost twice the price, is little more than a cheap sleeveless pac 'a' mac, marked up because of the logo...

Many thanks jamesmio for posting the link and discount code, I'll be keeping an eye on Aussie Grit from now on.

Aussie Grit sizing is a bit weird for me at least

Just had a jacket and gilet delivered

Jacket is perfect fit but gilet in same size is way too small

Been looking for a new Gilet - that Aussie Grit stuff looks nice and the save50 is too hard to resist. I had to fight myself not to get the running shorts, too....

The galibier looks lovely as well, but already have an insulated gilet. Must... resist...

Yeah I went with the Aussie grit, I got a light one and a thermo one. Arrived yesterday. Really very pleased with both, fantastic quality and discount price - thanks for the heads-up. PS I'm 6'3", 13.5 st, went with size L and they're spot on

My light large arrived. I'd normally wear a medium from most brands but would have been very snug on this. Fabric looks and feels good, well made. Neck hole a bit larger - it's going to let a draught down unless worn with a buff but a steal at this price.

My AG Thermal gilet arrived. It is snug, like for wearing only a thin base layer underneath. But I did that last night and it was ideal in these pleasant-but-chilly-when-the-sun-goes-down times. Nice bit of kit. Doing all I can to resist the shorts @half price.
