I've got an old giant XTC980 from 2002 and the rear suspension bearing on the seat tube nearest the saddle has finally given up. The bearings are all original. Where is best to source and fit a set of replacements near Sheffield? Anyone have any experience of replacing these, do you need a jig or can it be done diy? Cheers.
Any Giant dealer should be able to help you out and order them in.
I used TSW cycles in Nottingham.
They can be DIY's easily enough with sockets, vice & hammers.
Bearings are all industry standard types, so unless you need the bolts, sleeves & bushes for the horst link if it's an '02 then you don't need the genuine kit.
IIRC, the main pivot is either a 6000 or a 6001 & only two of, one in each side pressed up to a shoulder on the swingarm.
