Been asked to look at an NRS front mech, seems miles above chainrings, was gunna just reposition it lower but the rear of the mech overhangs the chainstays, so am worried it'll clash if I lower it (due to the suspension movement).
Any owners about, that can I confirm their setup?
Found the owners manual, but theres no mention of any special setup.
This is it in the middle ring... up in the air!

I had a couple of NRSs, can't recall mech set up being an issue. From your photo it looks like it needs to drop maybe 5mm which looks like it won't be a problem. If you are genuinely worried, set up the mech, then take the shock out, and exercise the suspension. Should still clear the chainstay. HTH
cheers, TBH I trying to avoid messing with the shock, as it got a nice wear mark in the stantion & the owners a nightmare, no idea why I agreed to look at it (actually it cause the local bike shops are bored of trying to placidate him & a good friend asked me to do it for him).
Though removing it completely might be easier than depressurising it and trying to set it up for him again
Took shock out & when fully squished the chainstay just clears the mech, which is why it's probably been set so high. Though the top pivot was hitting the back of the seat post in the position. Decided to empty the shock & when full squished down the 4 maybe 5 mm of clearance, so will lower it that. ๐
I nh ,h kmthink I had to buy a swing front mech for my nrs. As the normal pull version was too high. My frame was a medium and there was no way the mech would fit so his frame might be newer or bigger size.
Too late to edit and I was writing on a touch screen mobile with my sausage fingers ๐
When I had my NRS I had a problem that the normal front mech (which was top pull IIRC) would not go high enough to clear the big ring and the clamp would touch the shock mount weld on the seat tube. This was on a medium sized frame. I had to put a top swing front mech and then it worked beautifully. The mech that is on the bike is also a pull mech, but as it clears the big ring I can assume his frame is bigger then mine.
Give it a go with lowering it slightly but the real problem solver will be a top swing front mech.
Hope this now makes a bit more sense.
cheers Mieszko, will bear it in mind, as far as I'm aware that mech was what was spec'd from new though... so am hoping lowering it will resolve his "changing" issues up front.
