[#5640321]

Unless you want 4" wagon wheels, or 9" DH sled. With orange dropping everything above the alpine 160 in wondering what's going on! Or have I missed something?

Have i got this right.New trance still has 127mm out back and a 160 up front..Strange setup that is..
From there site.

All new and designed to maximize the benefits of 27.5-inch wheels, Trance SX 27.5 is a gravity-minded trail bike that’s light enough to hammer climbs and smooth enough to crush any descent. The lightweight yet stiff and super-strong ALUXX SL aluminum frame is mated with a longer travel fork (up to 160mm) and 5 inches of proven Maestro Suspension designed. The frame also features Giant’s OverDrive 2 steerer tube technology for razor sharp handling. And gravity-ready components make this an enduro-ready machine that won’t weigh you down on the climbs.

They'd be as well chucking it if this is the best they can build. Phugly in the most extreme.

The best mistake on the Giant website is the mix up with units on the geometries, was looking at the XTC's and they were quoting 60" top tubes, now a five foot top tube seems a little on the long side.

Really it's no wonder they're going 650bs when that is the best 29" they can come up with 😆

The Specialized alternative

Liking that spesh jcl but those cables underneath look very snag prone.

Yeah, some spesh cable routing is just weird, my SX and Camber had similiar dangly cables. Never snagged but could be very rubby, the SX looked like it had been hit with an angle grinder. Not a dealbreaker but not ideal, certainly could (should) be better IMO.

The Specialized alternative

br />

It's taking all my willpower to keep myself from putting a deposit down on one of those at the moment.

Never had a problem with cable routing on my enduro, or my stumpy before that - looks a lot tidier than this.

I demoed the Anthem and Trance 29ers last year and thought they were both great. Hard to choose between them for what type of riding I do. Prefered the Trance in the end and the colours on T were much better that last years awful anthems 1x but they ran out of stock on both. This year the Trance 1 looks awful, ditto the SX's colour is crap, but I do like the anthem in black!!!

Still now that Giant have told me that 29ers are crap I will have to wait til next year to see who is right!!!

Not yet. It's going to have to wait to the new year I think. 😕
From what I've read/heard Spesh seem to have got their 29ers sorted with the Stumpy and Enduros, while Giant &co can't make their mind up what they're doing.

This looks like it's been ridden into the back of a bus

The Specialized doesn't look great either. 29ers just look weird and squashed most of the time.

The graphics on that Orange look like they were designed by a well-meaning volunteer. They are stunningly bad.

I think it's probably the best looking bike on the market regardless of wheelsize. Had the same cable/hose routing for years and never had an issue. The only downside is mud sticks to the downtube easily.

The Banshee Prime is one of the few 29ers that actually looks great

That Banshee is nice. Like the Spitfire too. Cunning 26" and 650B compatibility with the flip chip thing.
