Ok, so I have one of those child seats that go on the top tube in front of me.

It seems the bars are too low by a long way, as when I put the boy in it his head is pushed forward by my body reaching the bars. He's barely old enough to sit in the thing...If I move it forward he moves up and it I move it back he encroaches on further into where I sit.

Do I need a sit up and beg style bike or one of those cruisers with bars like the world's largest bull horns?

LOCT or someone else? No problems with the LOCT on any of our bikes.

He's only 13 months, I wouldn't trust him to hang on himself!?

Fair point - don't have any experience of other cross bar types. Sorry

Try an OK Baby Orion - it has a safety bar.
Don't use those old Leco Top Tube seats - they are a disaster waiting to happen in my opinion ( and i used to sell them!!!)

Its actually pretty much identical to the baby orion

I don't see how it will be any lower than the one I've got? Do I need to get a super high rise stem or do they only work if you're 6ft + so you can tower over them?
