Remembering that horrific photo of derek starship, I encountered today a person who had fallen off their bike whilst "downhill racing on the golf course" (how's that for cheeky trails!). Anyway, said person had fallen onto their bar end, and informed me that they'd never seen a cut like this. Expecting an apple core type injury I removed the towel covering the persons lower abdomen to find a 9 inch tear from the top of the hip, all the way across the stomach. Less than an inch deep, but much deeper and they'd have been holding their innards in.
Reminded me that I need some new bar end plugs, if you do too, I'd suggest getting some!
Useless thread without pics!
Sounds like one gnar golf course...
probably not appropriate to be taking pictures, but it looked more like a shallow knife wound, poor sod was nearly cut in half!
There is a cheeky footpath route through a local golf course near here, but nothing on it that could/would cause an off. Just handy to cut out an extra mile of tarmac really, and it is slightly sunken singletrack in nature.
I had never realised how dangerous handlebars could be.. til mrs Z came off in a car park, riding at about 2 mph. How I laughed when she fell off in truly comical fashion. 18 stiches later I was in trouble...
Trying to find her proper bar end plugs now, but she has some strange Marin womens specific handlebars ;(
mrs P had the marin bars theyre propper heavy and a pain to get grips and bar plugs for so i just put some fsa risers on.
I prefer 'caps' to 'plugs', they cant get pushed in over time.
