Great bikes, highly recommended, what more would you like to know?

Oh, and the Alfine is brilliant too...

I have one. good bike. Just does what a bike should do. Alfine8 is slightly limited in gear range - its the same as a 1x9. Its a bit heavy at the back of the bike but a silent long lasting drivetrain is nice indeed

sam - mine was used at the strathpuffer which is fairly testing and has been round GT a few times - its mainly my commuter tho

8 sp alfines seem fairly reliable from what one hears some failures but not many.

They were used as the hub at GT basic hire bike for a couple of years so that says they are reliable and work fine.

I've had one for two years now, its been brilliant.

Gets far more use than my Five Pro as its so much more nimble on tight singletrack.

I've just had the recons serviced. Just changed the chain and will at some stage get the hub gear serviced for £20. Otherwise its been totally hassle free.

Do it!

Yeh, my wife has one and loves it, alfine is good, frame has a nice ride quality, overall a great bike 😀
She bought hers from the Hub at GT as an ex hire bike for £700 and it was like new. I am not sure if Bothy bikes in Aviemore still hire them out, they used to sell them off after 30 rides or so. Worth checking out. 🙂

Another GT ex hire bike here. Its a great commuter, the hub is just fine with a 36t sprocket up front. Good off road too, one of the ladies at the last Airmaiden event was using one as a jump bike....

Solid, handles well and reliable.....

Had a 2010 ioid for around 6 months now and can't fault it. The weight difference is neither here nor there in my opinion, Just put mine up forsale on ebay as I'm building an alfine based road bike instead, but I would happily buy another one if I needed another steel hardtail. I also have a IO singlespeed as a "play/pub" bike and again very happy with it.

O ITS says you were selling up to carry on with enduro, not that you were building a few more bikes up,?

Bit of both, we are buying enduro (motor) bikes for the summer so mountain bikes are going to fund that. But I still need a commuter for going to work on when it's sunny so I'm building a "hybrid" tybe bike with an alfine for commuting. (already had a spare alfine sitting here). Either way I don't think I'd go back to a derailluer setup on a hardtail, been happy with the alfines.
