Sorry, I know these threads are a bit silly, but I thought it was worth asking.

I can get an iO for a good price but the catch is it'll have to be a 16". I'm about 5'8.5" - is this out of the question? I'm pretty sure I ought to be on the 17.5".

Cheers,
MM

Totally depends on lots of things to be fair.

There is only 15mm in the top tube length between a 16" and a 17.5" though, so it's not worlds apart. I'm a couple of inches taller than you, and ride a 17.5" Altitude, but could probably get away with a 19" if I had wanted. I preferred to have a slightly smaller more nimble bike though.

If there's any way you can try it out for size before hand, then I suggest you do so.

I'm going to try it, but I'm not very experienced with mtbs (much more road experience) so my judgment from a short test ride may not be all that informative, hence my question.

5'7" and ride a 16" iO ... you'll need a pretty long seatpost but otherwise you should be fine.

5'11" on a 17.5" here. I would of thought you'd be ok.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I will have to see. Btw, if it helps, my road bikes range from a 53.5cm TT (which is the smallest I could ride) to a 55cm TT which is almost the biggest.

It's not like I even need a rigid SS, but it's so tempting... 🙄

I have the option of a complete, new bike with upgraded brakes for £350, so no thanks. 🙂
