my '06 AM SLs have been a bit rubbish recently so i just went to fiddle the air pressures, when i went to release the negative air pressure rather a lot of fork oil came out of the pump, i'm assuming this means a trip to TFTuned?
any simple solutions to save me the wonga?
anyone?
Define 'rather a lot'? The air chamber contains some oil to keep the seals lubed, if you release the air with the valve pointing down oil will come out.
If a seal in the doppio cart is blown its easy enough to find out, whip the cart out and have a gander.
it was enough to back up into the pump and come out of the release button, forks were the right way up. is there instructions for removing the dopio cart
air forks scare me a bit
i like big chunky springs and grease really 🙁
Marzocchis are pretty easy to work on- strip them down and do an oil change, and see if they are working ok.
I had a problem with doppio air Marathons SL's. They are probably same spring system. Got an answer from a marzocchi distributor that You can get air spring seal kit to service it (they quoted me around £10). Marathon SL's did have a service guide in PDF somewhere on the internet so servicing air spring would be the same really. My SL's did feel not as plush and that was caused by negative air chamber loosing air. Might be the case here as well but that it is borked completely :-). Older Bombers should be reasonably easy to service so You might as well get the seal kit and try and do it Yourself.
As above, they're piss easy to take apart. rebuild them and see what happens. IIRC there is a doppio service guide on leelikesbikes
hmmm
thanks
might have a tinker if i can find the service guide
so the forks are apart and the doppio air cartridge looks like it's impenetrable so i think i'll send them off
only problem is i can't get the TST cartridge back in the other leg 🙁
it's like trying to squeeze a rubber sausage into a hole that's too small for it

Just like making love to a beautiful woman?
well, first you have to stretch the skin down the shaft, then lube it up, then slide it in gently.
then panic
pull it out
wipe it off
and let the professionals have a go
so yes really
