Thinking of inventing in a SS 29er, any user experience / comments out there of the Fortitude (SS or geared)?
I have the SS model - it handles well but I find it pretty harsh going on the wrists (despite changing the fronts to 2.35" HD's and fitting ergon grips). It's good fun on easy trails up to a couple of hours, after that then I'd rather ride something else. Maintenance-wise I just blast it with a hose now and then and everything still seems to work. Overall I'd give it a 3 out of 5, for VFM I'd give it about 0.5
Oh, not very compelling. Hmmm...
You could probably build up a rigid singular swift for about the same money and have a much better spec'ed bike.
I like my Fortitude a lot but I wouldn't have bothered if not for c2w.
The fortitude have been a really popular bike in store for us this year. I have an alfine fortitude and love it! We have them on special at £723 until the end of the month! Just use voucher code 15OFF at checkout.

I'm tempted by this though.... http://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=3006#tab-reiter2
😐
Not had any issues with my Fortitude SS - it's no more harsh for me than riding my Project 2 equipped Kona from '95. I bought it for the simplicity of the SS/disc brake combination.
It's been great so far!

Is this compared to your experience of other rigid bikes?
Well tbh I've not ridden a full rigid MTB since the Stumpjumper I used to ride in the early 90's so I can't say the Fortitude is anymore harsh than other rigid MTBs (although I can't help but feel a carbon fork would improve it). I'm going to try it tubeless front and lower pressures but I still don't think it's an all-day bike or very versatile but then I didn't buy it for either of those reasons. I'd def have something like a Swift instead with hindsight though, mostly due to being able to fit a suspension fork.
Perhaps you need to adapt how you ride (although I have not ridden a Fortitude)? A rigid is not as 'comfy' as a suspended bike, but I have ridden long rides (including Kielder 100) on rigid bikes quite happily, as have lots of others. It's more to do with relaxing on the bike, loose grip etc. Low pressure tubeless will help though.
Fortitude Adventure frame user here .....
Copied from an earlier thread ....
Just my 2cents.I have had a Fortitude Adventure, that I bought as a frame only from the super helpful chaps at 18 Bikes, back in the summer. I had an 8speed Alfine hub already and some 447mm AtoC Pugsly forks from another build so frame only works.
I have to say that I am using this bike more than any other at the minute.
Yes its heavy (circa 28lbs) and yes its rigid yardy, yardy yah but it just works. Its also surprisingly comfortable.
I have changes a few things from the pic below mainly a wider bar, Flow based front wheel and a 2.4 Ardent.

My only complaint is that the rear could do with a little more clearance as the 2.1’’ WTB Prowler is about as big a tyre as I would want/could fit and still allow for mud .... oh and crud catcher mounts. The SS & Race have these but the Adventure frame doesn’t!
