Long shot, as I dont have bike with me at the moment.
Does anyone on here know off hand which tool is required for the freewheel fitted as standard to the genesis day1 (2010) singlespeed?

its a thread-on cog, which goes on the flip flop hub. 4 notches from memory. I've seen there are various 4-notch tools so not sure which one to go for.
thanks if you know the answer !

Sounds like a standard tool - any bike shop should have one - I've got the Park one and a Pedro's one (less good) in Nottingham

I've an IO, I think most modern freewheel units on SS use a Park FR-6, or the 'BMX 4 prong' on sheldon's link.

The prong is about 8.8mm wide, and the inside diameter is 30mm if you want to measure and compare. * Sorry just seen you don't have the bike on you

I used a Park FR-6 BMX on mine (successfully, although I nearly tore my bench vice off it's mounts in the process...). I replaced it with a cheapy jobbie (not many options around for 22t) which it turns out isn't meant to be removed apart from breaking it.
