looking at gettin one for my other half, however she is only 5'3" and the smallest they do is a 16".
Just wondered if there were any 16" owners out there, how tall you are and how you find them.
We live a loooong way from nearest stockist
The 16" is really small with a fair bit of standover, where do you live as my mate has a new bike shop and would give you a good deal if you were interested.
Its not really standover you want to be too concerned about though. They do publish the length - can you not compare a similar bike with a similar top tube length?
They are very nice bikes, very enjoyable to ride and good value - but if the bike is too big you'd be better off keeping on looking, imo.
Its just i can get a very good deal on a core 20, its a real shame she cant test one out first, or even a different make with similar geo. We really do live miles from a decent shop that stocks proper bikes.
think we just may have to go for it and hope it fits or sell it on. Cant really find any other bikes that seem as good for the money.
I've got a 16" altitude 20 and I'm 5' 6". I swithered between the 16" and the next size up, but decided the smaller one felt better.
They are great value, which is why we have them for our hire bikes. Before that we had Commencal Combi disks, but I think they've stopped doing those.
Surely you can get a rough idea by riding another bike? You just need to compare top tube lengths to get in the right ball-park for size.
I would add that they aren't especially long, so at least you'll know that it won't be freakishly ill-fitting.
Yep might have to make the trek to exeter to try some similar bikes at the weekend!
Hazel: if you were tempted with the 18" then im guessing it still felt ok? as your 3" taller im reckoning that the 16" should be ok for her too. How much seat post do you have out on the 16" when in xc mode?
I've got 16" Altitude 20 too and I'm 5'5" ish. Size is fine for me and the stem is about 100mm so could be shortened for her.
