[#4382602]

I have a few bikes - all bar two are running different gearing ratios/arrangements.

I am in the process of completing a Solaris build and am mulling over the option of going 1x10 or 2x10.

I have all the bits but am confused a little bar the ratios.

I run 34 (F) x 11x32 (R) (26'' Wheel) Good for the flat bits which are plentiful around here but not really climbed on these.

1 run a 46x36x26 (F) x 12x18 (R) on my Retro bike. Just been riding in the Peaks and found this an okayish low gear of 26x28.

My Alfine (8 Speed) 29er is 29 x 18

Sooooo back to the Solaris ......

will the addition of the 34 & 36 sprockets at the back mean I can get away with a single 32(?) up front or should I consider using a granny ring too?

I realize a lot of this is down to the rider but its making my tiny brain tingle ..... not in a good way either.

Help!

Have a look on Wikipedia for 'gear inches' and you can easily work out what gear ratio you need.

Ah yes ..... 12-28!

So based on that a 32 x 11x36 should be okay ๐Ÿ˜•

broadly similar gear inches between 12/28 on a 26" and 32/36 on a 29r

play with it
