Hi
Does anyone have some good links on how-to's for indexing gears?
Been trying to get gears to shift right now all morning. I just want to get out and ride the bloody thing. Arrggghh!

So far I've made sure that the jockey wheels are lined up when the cage is at the top of the cassette and when it is at the bottom of the cassette. The gears at the moment seem to shift down to the small cog fine, but going back up is causing me grief.

I also put it in the second largest cog and adjusted the barrel until it tries to skip down. Thought that was all you needed to do.

Any help appreciated.
Martin.

sounds like your on the right track have you checked that the hanger isnt slightly bent as this will make it almost impossible to gethe gears back up the cassette. other than that keep at it once you have done it a few times it will be second nature

I have never found the Sheldon Site particularly easy to navigate myself - need a "user interface " revamp IMHO ๐Ÿ™‚

A slightly obscure one, but drop out the rear wheel and make sure that there is no movement in the rear cassette on the hub. I've had this before and it was a bugger to diagnose.

I lost a tiny spacer from a cassette once... Took me new cables and a new mech before i figured that one out... It was such a tiny bit of movement as well, really hard to spot. ๐Ÿ™‚
