I'm planning on sticking an XT 11-46 cassette on and wonder if i'll need a XT long cage rear mech as opposed to a medium? Any thoughts wise bike folks?

It's my understanding that you only need a long cage for 2x.

I'll be running a 1 X 11 set up but I'm
guessing a long cage still applies.
