Just about to embark on a few mods to my HT. Realised I am missing any cable outer to go from the lever down to the top-tube (mostly internally routed).
What is out there that will perform well and be aesthetically pleasing?
Shimano SP41 - good cable, available in technicolour, think UK Bike Store do it by the metre now Parkers have closed down.
SP41 for me, I dunno about aesthetically pleasing but it does come in numerous colours, if you only need a short section I'd round ring your LBS's or search online.
SP41 in any colour of your choice - HERE
Intrested in this one too, i know the shimano works well but fancy something bling.
How bling can gear outer be?
Op what length are you looking for?
Anyone got any experience of using Alligator i-link?
SP41. Internally lubed and always works a treat for me. No need for Teflon coated this and that on the cable itself, just standard stuff will do.
Also can be bought in big rolls that work out much cheaper than the packs an LBS will sell. Though if you just want a small bit maybe not worth it. Most the LBS ones I find are for partial runs with all the boots and stuff for each part, not a single piece for full outers.
PnM a v short run, from the shifter to the frame so about 60cm!
i got a jagwire ripcord set for my hardtail about 3 years ago and going strong and shifting is still as slick as it always was.
SP41 for me... Though coloured cables are the first step on the irresistable road to madness.
Except when I put them on my trials bike obviously, that's fine. Anything else, definitely the first step.
Oh they do orange? Well... That's probably fine too (gets credit card)
Anyone got any experience of using Alligator i-link?
I've used somethnig similar in the past, Nokon gear cables, and they're alright; shift really well, lighter than normal cable outers, but look tatty quite quickly and don't follow nice smooth curves from the handle bars.
Thought I had that much left, turns out I need a new roll of SP41!
SP41 bought. Ta.
