There was even a gay double decker bus, called the Gay Hostess, run by Standerwick.

Then there is the obvious joke about the bendy buses.

I'm not going to search "gay" on google images to join in as I'm scared of what I might see and I'm currently out of eye/brain bleach. 😀

Edit:

Think the term 29'er is the updated phrase

I'd be more shocked to find out that folks on here actually ride bikes rather than the same sex.

On a more serious note has anyone ever actually met a gay mountain biker? Not trying to be funny or anything just never met any?

I tried on some new Lycra today and found myself strangely attracted to myself. Not sure what that means.

How would you know if an MTBer was gay, exactly? Have you enquired as to the sexual orientation of everyone you've ridden with?

Do they wear pink or something? I'm not sure how I'd identify one. I'm guessing they'd look quite a lot like me, like riding bikes and generally behave like all other men. Some pointers would be useful.

Sorry I didn't word that very well, I've got lots of cycling friends (none of which are gay) and I have other (non cycling friends) who are gay, I wasn't suggesting that they would stand out differently than anyone else! Before people get on theire moral high horses 😕

I know one who behaves more like a woman. Because she is.

Aren't they the "mincers" you all speak of on here? Or have I got it wrong? 😀

I think that's 'Hot Pink' which means while you're not technically gay, you'd try a ladyboy after a couple of pints.

It's not just the colour, it's because your tyre and wheel motifs don't line up.

Says you're not fussed as long it all functions !

Good on you... I have a female friend who's brother it's gay and their dad still can't accept it. It's a shame when something like that breaks a family up.

"I think that's 'Hot Pink' which means while you're not technically gay, you'd try a ladyboy after a couple of pints."

So is "Dark Pink" when the answer to the question might still be "no" after a couple of pints, but after a couple more, the question might be "pre or post op?"...

There are lots of them, they are like...people who ride bikes.... They do disproportionately attract nicknames such as "trail fairy" which can't be helped really 😉

It's not something I would even wonder about these days

Isn't about 1:10 of the male population gay? With that in mind, and the fact that a lot of the gay guys I work with look after themselves pretty well, I'd suggest there would be quite a lot.

TBH, I'm surprised we are even talking about this non issue any more..

LOL @ AdamW. 🙂

I was at a race a while ago and, watching the prize presentation for the women's race, they just used the same podium girl as for all the other races - quite right too, why wouldn't you?

I overheard one of the women in the crowd say to a friend "If I'd just been doing all that cycling I'd like a hug from a nice looking young man rather than from a girl"

I knew for certain that at least one of the women on the podium would have much preferred the girl. Told her about that comment afterwards, she fell about laughing. 🙂

We used to have a lesbian mechanic who rode with an outfit called Dykes on Bikes (and was a damn fine road racer).
Provided excellent entertainment when blokes would come in and say stuff like "It's a mechanical thing love, I'll need to speak to one of the fitters".

Surprisingly after many years of cycling havent met one gay male cyclist, out of the bike shed, but have met a few lesbian ones, which seems to be more acceptable to announce, or you findout by accident, like when you see them kissing their girlfreind. 😳

But there do seem to be a lot of bicurious on here lately, should liven up a bike ride somewhat.

No idea. I've met a fair number of mountain bikers, but since I didn't want to shag any of them, their sexuality didn't come up.

Surprisingly after many years of cycling havent met one gay male cyclist

Seriously? You've asked every cyclist you've ever met what their sexuality was? Did they not find that a bit weird? I would.
