Just seen this on FB 😢

<It is with great regret and sadness that the Gawton Gravity Hub committee have to inform its members and followers that as of the 26th August “Tavi Woods” will no longer be run by the club.
Issues with contaminated land, a ban on mechinery to maintain the trails, multi-user conflict, loss of substantial riding area and the carpark over the past few years have all culminated in the difficult decision to give notice to our land owners that we intend to vacate the site on 2nd September.
The last day of riding at Tavi woods will be 26th August with the following week being dedicated to demolishing and blocking up the trails as we have to leave the site so that it is unridable.
Despite Tavi Woods being the spiritual home of Woodland Riders and Gawton Gravity Hub, the committee haven’t been able to put the time and effort both sites deserve into them over the past few years. With the difficulties we face running Tavi Woods it was the obvious choice to let go.
The club will continue on at Gawton and re-focus its efforts and resources to become the best downhill MTB venue it can be.

Writings been on the wall for a while. Final straw was closing the top car park and half the tracks due to arsenic contamination. Turns out it was one of the most contaminated spots on site. once that closed, very few could be arsed to ride the mile in from the alternative car park and it fell into disuse.

I see, I thought the whole idea of Tavi woods site was to keep the riders away from the most contaminated parts 🙄

They stopped us riding the really contaminated bits about 25yrs ago. Then the open stuff we had left 3-4 yrs ago. That just left the tracks in the woods and then the car parks etc were the last straw. <span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">There was always a lot of local opposition from dog walkers and horse riders.

still some good gravel riding in there that won’t be closed.
