I've heard the path from Coldale Hause down Gasgale Gill might not have survived the floods too well - anyone been down that valley recently - paging Boxelder ๐Ÿ™‚

No, sorry. My 8 week old daughter (and the elder two) at the moment mean Ive not been that way recently. I do know the wooden footbridge from the foot of the gill to Lanthwaite is impassable - it's still there, in about the same position, it's just there's 15'gaps with 6-8 drops on either side! Wouldn't expect the lower bit of the Gill to be much affected, but then I always keep high across the crags on the true right side. Not sure if there'll have been enough water at the top to do much, but then it was semi collapsing anyway. Go and have a look and tell us.

Would have thought you'll be fine higher up as Boxelder says most of the damage is at the bottom. Even that is passable, we've crossed by the damaged bridge a couple of times since the floods and if you look there is a obvious route across stopping you getting wet. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Will be a different matter when its in spate though!

P.S if your up coledale for the sake of a bit more climbing Wandope then the ridge to Whiteless pike and down the front to Whiteless Breast is far better than Gasgale! All rideable too ๐Ÿ˜‰

Good idea - after coming down Rigg Beck the other night, I have this craving to tool it down Gasgale Gill having not been down there for so long. Saying that, it's such a hike up from Braithwaite you've got to make the downhill count eh. I might have to make a detour left if the weather's on my side ๐Ÿ˜‰

Parkedtiger, did you get down there the other week? We went up it today and it is quite extensively damaged in places, the path is missing a lot below the flatter middle section and there is section missing towards the top. Also just for reference we came over High Moss and down Bleak Knott theres a large section of that singletrack towards the top missing, got a bit of a shock cos its on a fast section and you don't see it till your right on it. Theres a good 4+5m missing and its about 2m deep.

Morning anc - thanks for the update...I didn't head that way in the end, I thought I'd take advantage of the hard frost and went up to Blea Tarn / High Tove above Thirlmere - as it's usually such a bog I took the oppotunity to do a little exploring off the beaten track.

I haven't up Outerside / High Moss way since the floods and snow - we do seem to be coming across a wash out or land slide on every trail at the moment. Can't fight mother nature I guess ๐Ÿ™‚
