Have an aged 500 that the battery's starting to go on.

Given that I'm not fussed about navigation etc and only really use it to record my rides, what's the advantage of the 520 over the 25?

If you like the 500 will Garmin do an exchange unit? It might save you a few quid, and my experience is that the refurbs are as new
You can DIY a battery replacement too, but ideally you need to be able to solder

what's the advantage of the 520 over the 25?

I have a 25, the gps reception is poor, and I have never been able to get any speed sensor to calibrate, which would be fine if it allowed manual entry for wheel size, but it doesn't.

All in all it's a bit crap, want to buy it?
