Thinking of entering the world of GPS.
Garmin seems to be the popular option.
Just be wanting to use as a bike computer for MTB and road cycling, don't need mapping function.
Heart rate would be useful.
Anyone know of any deals?

how ever if folks here have used them then i might , although they were showing no stock of the hr/cadence package

I got my Garmin Edge 500 from Evans, they price matched CRC and Amazon which was nice of them.

Garmin replaced it under warranty about 5 months later when it completely froze while downloading an update from their website. The speed and acceptance of the replacement lead me to believe that I may not have been the first to have that problem... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Other than that, no problems with the unit or Garmin - excellent customer service, brilliant bit of kit. Probably quite cheap now that the newer 510 and 810 units are out.

Handtec are OK. They've been around a while. Annoyingly though, the prices on many of their pages do not include VAT ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Any idea about HR strap, would a Polar strap work?

Might buy basic unit and add strap later

Handtec delivered my Garmin the very next day. They were a couple of quid more than Amazon, but I prefer not to fund tax dodgers...

In the past few months I've bought a forerunner 310xt from handtec and an edge 800 from halfords. Both devices are great. Handtec were no problem at all and very cheap. I got a refurb unit with a hrm for less than a bare GPS on amazon.
Wouldn't have thought a polar strap will work, but my old harm in 305 strap did. I'd get a bundle if you think you'll add one later as they are very expensive separately.

i went with a garmin edge 500 red premium - i wanted the soft strap ๐Ÿ˜€

197 quid from wiggle.

[img] [/img]

had that since it first came to market possibly in 2005 ? - i remember my mate was riding for STW/pipedream team at the time and they provided him a 305 to train with. Had a shot and just had to have one , best thing since sliced bread.

no longer train just ride but its still an excellent tool ๐Ÿ˜€

Met its maker the other week when i dropped it closing the garage door after a ride ๐Ÿ™
