For anyone who hasn't already done this, just locate the startup.txt file in the Garmin folder and edit to suit.

Here's mine:-

Next option is to get the serial number off the device and email it to Garmin asking if it's been registered and if so to contact the owner and pass on your details so you can return it and claim your free packet of Haribo.

I wonder if the unit is password protected - I doubt it. May have some tracklogs on it which could help if you can connect it to a computer
