How do you get round the fact that chromebook doesnt work with garmin express?
will it upload automatically to my phone and then straight to strava?
just opened my new 520 and its all a bit new as previously just plugged my 200 in and manually selected a file to upload...

My 520 syncs straight up to strava via iPhone. Only plugged it into PC once to update maps.

right ok thats good news, its a bit confusing with garmin connect and strava etc etc may get a ride in tomorrow and see if it works...

have you just connected the phone via bluetooth and left it or had to change any settings to get it to upload to strava?

I think you link garmin/strava via strava settings on the strava website.

if you need to use the chromebook, it can be done.

Plug your Garmin in, it appears as a drive, go to Garmin connect website, select manual upload, and then navigate to the folder that stores your activities, select the one you want, and upload. Easy.

Visit here and set it up for Garmin
https://www.strava.com/upload/device

Then install Garmin Connect app on your phone, go to Devices and set up Bluetooth and Sync.

My Garmin rides are usually on Strava by the time I'm in the front door after pressing stop at the gatepost. Works well.

I then use https://tapiriik.com to sync to other trackers and Dropbox.
