Silly me! Have bought the wrong sized bike mount. 😳
I have now ascertained that my bar is 31.8 mm and Garmin do a 'Rail Mount Adapter' that fits bars with a diameter of between 25 - 32 mm.
This strikes me as a very tight fit and having already wasted money, don't want to repeat that.
Has anyone used this please?

They come with a rubber strip to shim if required. I have one and it's fine on an OS bar. There is some adjustment with the attachment screw as well. Worst case scenario is that you have to move it slightly away from the stem.
Thanks very much geoff. I've only got a tiny amount of room as it's for the road bike so want to avoid putting on the bar tape. I guess, if needs be, a longer screw may help.
It's the old basic Etrex style.

The actual bar mount looks identical to the one on my Geko and will go on a 31.8 bar just fine.
