I used to have an iPhone but the connectivity with garmin was terrible so I changed to android a number of years ago. Have things improved with garmin and ios connection. Thanks

Garmin Connect is as flaky as hell as far as transferring routes goes, so the answer is largely “no”, but Connect IQ gives you the opportunity of going via third party apps such as RouteCourse, Komoot, RideWithGPS etc, provided your Garmin is supported (eg RWGPS don’t support the Explore, which happens to be a particular frustration for me).

I found it bombproof 95% of the time.

the other 5% of the time required required multiple restarts, re-pairings etc to get the Connect app to see the watch again.

moved to an apple watch.

I’m using a Felix 5 with iPhone and it connects faultlessly. The problem is the garmin connect app as far as I can tell. It was the same with an older android phone in fairness. I would say device connectivity is better on my iPhone than the android I had before

Personally, I think it's fine.
Very occasionally it'll take a couple of attempts to transfer a route but that's rare, it works 99% of the time.

If I keep the iPhone & Garmin software up-to-date, I've never had a problem. That is a big IF though 😂

It was utterly frustrating, and would fail once a fortnight or so requiring a complicated method of restarting the bluetooth / wifi on both the Garmin (Edge 510 in my case) and iPhone (X). Despite keeping everything updated etc.

Happy to say I haven't had that for a year or so despite using the same devices. Perhaps Apple have fixed something with a software update.

My XR and 735xt work really well. Connect is the weak link but it’s pretty good.

My edge 820 on the other hand is a pain, and connect seems especially bad at having more than one device even though it’s meant to be able to.

Call it a score draw.

touch wood, my fenix 5 plus and android (One Plus) phone have been pretty good. Keep up to date with updates though.

My Fenix 5 worked fine with the iPhone XR I had (and then gave to my daughter), been fine with the Samsung A70 I replaced it with. Think it might have failed once, but not sure. Certainly nothing serious.
