Hi all, i have asked for a Garmin 705 for chrimbo but i don,t know what maps to get with it.At the moment i am looking at the topo gb map on disc.
The problem is that i also ride on the road and i am thinking this topo map is more suited for off road purposes.
Does anyone use a 705 and how is it, is it easy to use etc.

its easy to use initially, but gets a bit tricky when you start to use all the functions.

The road map scales a bit better when you zoom in and out. The Topo map has roads on but they tend to dissappear when you zoom out. I think you can view both on the garmin website.

i obtained both road and topo maps from a separate source.

If i was buying again i'd take good look at the new Memory Map device if its navigation you want to do (rather than logging all your rides for training purposes).

Hi Nosher

Google Frank Kinlan he is the guru on the 705.

I use mine for off road navigation and for ride logging.

I've yet to hear anyone be particularly impressed with Topo Map, I'd get City Navigator.

City Navigator if you're doing road. I've had my Garmin 705 just over a year and I've been really impressed though I can't say I've used it a great deal for navigation - primarily as a training aid...
