Been looking at increasing the security on my up n over garage doo. Didnt want a huge pole (oooer missus) stuck in front, wanted something more discreet... Came across this
http://www.autolok.co.uk/Pages/garage.htm

Anyone using/have any experience with one, is fitting easy?

After an attempted break in (lights seem to have stopped them) I got 2x these and they are discrete - and there is no way our up and over is moving unless someone drives a car through it:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ENFIELD-GARAGE-DOOR-LOCKS-BOLTS-R-H-OR-L-H-HIGH-SECURITY-MK-II-/320958466062?pt=UK_HaG_Lock_Safes_GL&var=&hash=item4aba9d880e#ht_4807wt_1278

Note when I got them they were way cheaper - I suspect the same thing is sold under different names / brands.

Also get some PIRs - for approach and on the door.

#Edit - sorry no experience of the autolock.

Surely all you have to do to by pass that is cut around the thin metal of the door or smash the lock inwards with a hammer and screwdriver?

The Autolok thing I am referring to.

@peteimpreza - you might think so but they are pretty big and bolt so far into to surround you couldnt just push them.

TBH - if someone really wants in and brings an angle grinder or torch - we're all fubar. But where these win is that theyre discrete and easy to use.

Just to reiterate - my first line of defence: lights. Lots.

OK! I'm going to feel a bit odd going out to take a photo in the dark but if you can wait till tomorrow - it's exactly like a cover on a mortice lock.

Kind of like this - around the size of a 50p ish.

As requested: photos. The inside is as per the ebay photos. Note though you will almost definitely need an angle grinder / hacksaw to shorten the bolts on the inside and avoid catching yourself on.

Excuse the shonky phone-cam colours.
