Here it is on it's maiden voyage - Single speed full susser using the Yess tensioner and a Taz wobbly ring. Transformed the bike, I used to hate riding it as it felt like riding a sofa with a parachute on to slow it down as it pogoed along. Singlespeed meant no worrying about gear selection, wobbly ring eliminated any bob from the suspension and a longer stem made it feel much more like my old rigid bike - 25 Peak District miles and when I got home I was still grinning, it even climbed the steep hill back to our house quite happily. 😀

Where did you get the tensioner?

I considered one for my SS / alfine full suspension bike

Looks good but I wouldn't mind one that pushes up, my trance used to slip in some ratios possibly due to not enough chain wrap

Interesting to hear the wobble ring helps reduce bob, I'm due a new transmission soon, I'll have to look into one

Want. How much was the tensioner? Says it's out of stock on the website.

@ThePodge - the top roller is so close to the cog there is no room for slippage. You work in Hope, happy to show you and let you have a blast to see how it works. It was a bit expensive at £80 inc shipping and tax (comes from Canada), but it has meant a bike that cost a few hundred pounds is now a joy to ride.

Taz - wonky is the way to go, the second one is being saved for my lightweight rigid bike.

I'm still not getting this. I can't see ANY purpose to it, straight jacket on wheels or over biked.

You don't need to, its not your bike

I think it's ace but I like singlespeeds & suspension

Fair point Roger, I'm riding in soft-shandy-drinking-Surrey.

I think I'm an SSer but I've yet to take on a 'real' hill. That pleasure is to come.

Why do you need suspension at all, or 29" wheels or a Jones, or anything else bike related - you don't, but it's fun messing about with them to try something new.
