Anyone got any links to diagrams showing the correct re-assembly for my FSA headset? I may have fitted one of the bearing rings upside down but rather than guessing... and nothing on FSA's website. Also how much grease should I had added, I think I may have gone overboard?

Hard to explain but here goes- You have cups(the part in the frame),caged bearings, and cones(the part fitted to the fork, and on top). If you look at the bearing cage it's effectively open on one side(you can squeeze blobs of grease between the balls from this side), this is the side that fits over the cone, so it faces downwards at the bottom and upwards at the top of the headset. The bottom seal usually has a groove that fits over the fork cone(crown race, as it's known),the top seal sits on the top cup,and the tapered and split plastic wedge slides inside the upper cone and the whole assembly slides down the steerer tube and is then covered by the top cap.

cheers that was really helpful. The steering had felt a bit grindy so I'd taken it apart and cleaned/regreased. After I'd re-assembled there was still a slight grind so I then convinved myself I hadnt reassembled correctly.

Now Im 100% certain its been put back toether properly, but if I still have a grind I guess that means the bearings need replacing. BUT can I still ride the bike without damaging anything else???

It's well-greased and will be replaced ASAP but can the bike be ridden in the meantime?? The suns out !!

It's pretty much self contained, so shouldn't really affect anything else. Enjoy the weather.
