[#1854113]

Ok; following on from my other thread, I have been informed by Hope that their BBs don't fit FSA cranks. Presumably from this we can infer that most other BBs won't fit :-(.

Before I succumb to buying another FSA, has anyone found something that fits Moto type cranks? Ideally about £40 or less, and in red (less important!)

Cheers

Tom

If it helps, I'm currently using an FSA Afterburner with a Superstar BB because I had it lying around when the FSA MegaExo BB that came with it finished its short life (about 6 months, they are truly rubbish). According to the FSA web site Moto and Afterburner can use the same BB (e.g. this) so I would deduce that you could use any standard HTII BB despite what Hope say.

Thanks; the Hope thing was prompted by other people saying they had fitting issues, and I don't want to get stuck cranks!

Tried calling Superstar but no answer 🙁

My mate tried a megaexo crank with hope BB = tight fit 🙂 Mine is yet to fail so I have not tried it yet as I have one spare from another build 🙂

I don't want to have to jam it in as I suspect that this will pop out the seals.

Looks like a new FSA...

I suspect the problem with the Hope is that it doesn't have the plastic top-hat so the crank axle bears directly against the bearing so tolerances have to be tighter. If you stick with Shimano/Superstar etc which have the plastic bit then I'd guess you're ok, can't see how it could get stuck as you could always destroy the plastic thing to get it out!

been running FSA carbon cranks on a hope BB for 12months...no issues at all compatibility wise...thought it was a std axle diameter?
